Advisory Council on Historic Preservation announces free eLearning Courses

Updated: Dec 20, 2021

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation invites you to learn more through free eLearning courses – available anytime to anyone on the ACHP’s eLearning Portal – and digital classroom courses led by ACHP staff instructors on the review process required by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for projects carried out or assisted by federal agencies. The ACHP offers eight free eLearning courses on topics including integration of Section 106 with NEPA reviews, disaster response, and early coordination with Indian tribes for infrastructure projects. Each online course features self-paced interactive presentations, knowledge checks, and downloadable reference documents. Courses of 30 minutes or more offer a certificate of completion and incorporate knowledge checks that let you apply your learning to case scenarios or quiz questions. For those interested in building skills in working with Section 106, the ACHP offers a full curriculum of digital classroom courses incorporating case examples, interactive small group exercises, and the perspective of experienced staff instructors who assist federal agencies carrying out these reviews every day. Course dates for 2022 have just opened for registration!
