2023 Arizona Historic Preservation Conference Call for Sessions
At this time, the Planning Committee is announcing a Call for Sessions for the October 25-28, 2023 conference. Successful proposals will tie to the conference theme of "History in the Balance" highlighting the myriad of ways preservation practice and heritage resources management helps communities with telling the full story of the development of place while also responding to contemporary needs.
Session topics could address:

Documenting and interpreting complex histories

Design of sensitive infill for historic districts and downtowns
-
Evaluation and preservation of landscape-level Traditional Cultural Properties
-
Documentation and preservation of intangible heritage
-
Design and installation of placed-based public art
-
Organizational strategies that promote capacity of preservation programs
-
Preservation as a tool or strategy to tackle contemporary urban issues
-
Development of balanced preservation policies on working landscapes
-
Projects that use education and interpretation as tools to promote preservation stewardship to new audience
-
Uncovering the past in urban areas
-
The transition from the prehistoric to the historic period
While drafting your proposals, be sure to consider the following questions:

How does your session address the theme?

What are the main takeaways for attendees from the proposed session?
Remember that your session title tells 90% of the story. Be sure that it is clear, concise, and attractive enough to inspire attendees to learn more about your topic.
