Arizona educators and youth leaders, an exciting opportunity is coming your way! The Preserve America Youth Summit is set to take place June 2-5, 2025, and we’re looking for teachers and 7th-12th grade students to participate.
The Route 66 Centennial Youth Summit is presented by the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Preserve Route 66 Initiative and HOPE Crew programs, in partnership with the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona and other state partners. This four-day program offers hands-on learning experiences at historic sites, empowering participants to become the next generation of preservation leaders while strengthening community efforts.
Best of all, this Youth Summit is fully funded – meaning all costs, including meals, transportation, and lodging, are covered for participants. Students can also earn community service hours for their involvement.
What to Expect
Participants will have the unique opportunity to:
✅ Travel along Route 66 in Arizona
✅ Explore significant historic sites tied to Route 66
✅ Develop ideas for celebrating the highway’s 100th anniversary
✅ Engage in hands-on learning activities
✅ Learn about historic preservation and interpretation
✅ Collaborate with state and national leaders
✅ Contribute to an important community service project
✅ Present ideas at a public Town Hall
More Than Just a Field Trip
This isn’t a summer camp or a sightseeing tour—participants will act as consultants and problem solvers, contributing real ideas for the future of Route 66 preservation.
How to Apply
Space is limited, and applications are due May 2, 2025. Both students and teachers apply through the same online application process.
