Save Phoenix's Historic Neighborhoods – Call Council Members Today

The Phoenix City Council will take its final vote on the Middle Housing Text Amendment (Z-TA-1-25-Y AGENDA ITEMS 71 & 72) this Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025. The most impactful thing that Phoenix neighborhood and preservation advocates can do right now is call the Council Members below and ask them to VOTE FOR A 90-DAY DELAY in implementing the Middle Housing Text Amendment.

Who to Call:

Why a 90-Day Delay Matters: A short pause will give experts time to determine how middle housing can be implemented in a way that truly benefits all Phoenix residents — without putting our historic districts at maximum risk.

Right now, the Middle Housing Overlay is concentrated in just a handful of central historic neighborhoods. That means:

  • These areas become the sole target for redevelopment

  • Historic homes face increased demolition pressure

  • And affordable housing gains will be minimal

Phoenix deserves a better, more thoughtful plan. A delay also allows the Arizona State Legislature to consider amendments in the upcoming 2026 session — including a potential exemption for historic districts.

Your voice matters. Please call today — it only takes a few minutes to make a big difference.

Thank you for taking action for our historic neighborhoods!
